Donald Joseph Hoffart

March 27, 1942 to August 10, 2025

Surrounded by his loving family, Donald Joseph Hoffart passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born to Joseph Benedict Hoffart and Rita Margaret O'Sullivan on March 27, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, Donald quickly became affectionately known by his friends and family as "Don".

He attended La Sierra High School in Sacramento, California, graduated from the San Juan District in 1961.

Don joined the United States Army in 1962, and courageously served until receiving an honorable discharge in 1964 while being stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Don married the love of his life, Sally Mitsuko Nakashoji on April 23, 1966 in Reno, Nevada. The couple raised two boys together and shared 59 years of marriage.

Much of Don's professional career was dedicated to the automotive industry, working for DuPratt Ford in Dixon, California where he managed and scaled the auto parts department.

He later became an independent Snap-on Tools distributor serving in various capacities including field manager and coach in Amador, Sacramento, and Placer Counties until his retirement in 2001.

Don's life was full. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, participating in many organized rides. After retiring from Snap-on, he found the time to follow his various passions, shifting his energy from motorcycles to hot rods and show cars.

Don's enthusiasm for drag racing fueled him to build a '71 Mach 1 Mustang. He spent countless memorable Wednesday evenings at Sacramento Raceway with his wife and children by his side, sharing in their husband and father's joy.

His '57 Ranchero received high honors at the Autorama Show in Sacramento. Don recently completed the restoration of a '49 Ford coupe, which family members hope to one day showcase in local car events in honor of him.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Sally, sons Vincent (LeAnn) and Nicholas Hoffart and grandsons Jacob, Carrick, Nolan and Russell.

Services will be held Friday, September 12th at 10AM at the Pavilion at Newcastle Cemetery (800 Taylor Rd, Newcastle, CA.)
